Offering Summer Learning Destination WorkshopsIntroduction to Passive Solar Greenhouse and the Sustainable Home Environment: Design & Build Tour:

Topics covered during the Intro include: Spring planting, Sanitary Systems/Digester/Organic Fertilizer, WEB Whole Earth Building Blocks, seasonal food production.

Attached or unattached, the Greenhouse/Garden is intimately connected to the home’s waste stream through the utilization of the byproducts. A process where the waste water is recycled into a liquid rich nutrient stream, methane gas and potable water. Utilized as a buffer zone for climate control, the house and additional green, home/nature interface, a year round producer of food and clean air for the inhabitants of the home.

The Tiny Healthy House: Here we will explore " Living Small." Often measuring less than 300 square feet the house isn't necessarily about sacrifice, a small house can lead to a simpler fuller life, connected with family, friends and nature. Built with a minimal amount of materials, 1:4:9 modular walls, floors and foundation are fully integrated into an efficient structure that is easy and quick to build. Incorporating conventional and non-conventional waste materials such as recycled organic fibres, adobe earth cores, steel, plastics and polystyrene. With these structures we will pursue various natural finishes for the interior and exterior walls of the building using local clay and natural pigments all providing for a breathable, thermal mass finish. Aptly suited for a small office, an art or writing studio, a playhouse guesthouse, garden house or small dwelling, these cost effective Homes definitely say " Less is More!"
